The amazing thing about yoga is that despite the great benefits that it produces, it requires no costs. This is because yoga is more than just a practice. It’s a state of mind and a lifestyle. You don’t have to use any specific training equipment to obtain the desired results and you can practice yoga in any environment.

Your will, your believes and your attitudes towards this philosophical path are all that matters. The key issue for preparing yourself for your first yoga session is a balanced and healthy diet based on natural foods. What we eat affects our mind and soul.

When finding a place for your yoga practice, choose the one as far away from distractions – radio, TV, street noise – as possible. The place needs to be quiet, clean, and well ventilated. The only required accessory to gain comfort when carrying out the exercises and the meditation is a blanket (or a towel, or a mat). Most exercises are performed in either sitting or lying positions.

Try to select some very comfortable and loose clothes, such as a training suit, a t-shirt, sweat pants, shorts or loose pajamas. Some people would rather wear no clothes at all and practice nude yoga, but most put something on, especially if the yoga session is not private.

It’s highly recommended to perform yoga exercises with an empty stomach. In general, one or two hours after a meal is the ideal time for practicing yoga. Breathing is a key element in yoga training, so don’t forget to clean your nostrils and throat.

If you cannot decide when to have your yoga session, you need to know that both morning and evening practices can be very beneficial to your mind and body. Performing exercises in the morning will improve your vitality level and contribute to your good shape for the whole day. On the other hand, evening yoga practices helps inducing a restful and peaceful sleep.

Your yoga session should not exhaust you. If during the session you feel tired, do not hesitate to take a break. In fact, short breaks are common between difficult exercises. Keep in mind that as little as 15 minutes of correct yoga practice can produce marvelous results on your body and mind.

Remember that the most important thing when practicing yoga is your attitude and your desire to discover the incredible sensations and experiences this ancient philosophy can provide.
